Moving Equipment for the Transcontinental Railroad
Speed was not easy for the Central Pacific. Much of the materials needed to build the railroad had to be sailed from the east coast around the tip of South America and to the West Coast, then loaded onto steam boats and shipped up the Sacramento River.
