Web Appraisal: Kiowa Archive ca. 1870
Ted Trotta appraises an archive of Kiowa objects, including a hand-colored tintype of a Kiowa couple that is particularly rare, because the couple's name, Mr. and Mrs. Tahasan, was scribbled beneath the photo -- an important piece of information that is often lost in Native American photography.
