Ban on Gas Cars | September 23

Season 1 Episode 238

On the September 23 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss Newsom’s ban on gas-powered vehicles, L.A. County’s progress in re-opening and Project Roomkey.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order today, banning the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 to curb greenhouse gas emissions. Jacob Margolis discusses what this means for the consumer and pollution across the state.

Los Angeles County is making some progress toward reopening businesses due to a reduction in COVID-19 community transmission numbers. Lita Martinez gives a clearer picture of other factors influencing reopening guidelines.

Project Roomkey, a county program to help house homeless people in hotels during the pandemic, is winding down and closing by early 2021. Gabriel Dunatov reports on how successful the program has been.
