Several mountain lion sightings in Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park have prompted OC Parks to set up warning signs and to monitor trails, the agency announced Tuesday.

California Department of Fish and Wildlife wardens were assisting in an investigation of the situation.

A photo of a mountain lion in a tree was circulated on social media, and warning signs have been posted, and additional trail cameras installed.

The park has a lot of natural terrain and certain inherent dangerous conditions, including mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and poison oak, according to Marisa O'Neil of OC Parks.

Mountain lion sightings should be reported to (949) 923-2245.
