Where's Huell? A Bunny Museum, Model Boats and the Home of Hollywood Shrubs
What's a week without the continued adventures of KCET's Golden State-trotting hero, Huell Howser? It's like autumn without leaves, that's what. This week, Huell makes stops all over California -- from a famous toilet manufacturer to the birthplace of the squeegee.
Monday @ 7:30PM -- "Bunny Museum"
Do you like rabbits? Well, no matter what your answer, you really don't in comparison to Pasadena couple Candace Frazee and Steve Lubanski, who have transformed their home into the Bunny Museum containing over 21,000 long-eared collectibles. And yes, there are live rabbits as well.
Tuesday @ 7:30PM -- "Movie Nursery"
You're making a movie. The movie needs plants. Where do you get them? Well, historically speaking, the North Hollywood-based Jackson Shrub has been supplying live and artificial plants for movie productions for years. Think of these plants as the most unsung of Hollywood extras.
Wednesday @ 7:30PM -- "California Testers"
If you're in a building right now, you should be happy that it's not falling down on you. In fact, you might even be able to thank the L.A.-based Smith-Emery Company for that fact, as they test out construction materials to make sure they do what they're supposed to.
Thursday @ 7:30PM -- "Model Boats"
Meet the OCMSC -- the Orange County Model Sailing Club, whose radio-controlled boats may not cost as much as their full-scale counterparts but whose owners put in an equal amount of care anyway.
Friday @ 7:30PM -- "Dental Museum"
Because the only thing more terrifying than a modern-day trip to the dentist is a look into what the dental patients of yesteryear had to put up with. The museum at the Orange County Dental Society boasts old instruments that will make even the most diligent flosser rethink their oral hygiene campaign.
