Coding is a Family Affair with ScratchJr

Coding is cool, and with the new PBS Kids ScratchJr App, coding is a family affair!

Coding Workshop

This past autumn, we held a series of creative learning workshops for families at Foster Elementary in Compton. The focus was on teaching parents to use the new PBS Kids ScratchJr coding app so they can then share their skills with their kids and code as a family. Originally developed by MIT, PBS KIDS ScratchJr allows kids to create their own interactive stories and games featuring their favorite PBS Kids characters from Wild Kratts, Nature Cat, WordGirl and Peg + Cat! The storytelling possibilities are practically endless, and the app brings together a variety of cognitive skills to get young learners thinking creatively, while having fun.
