Writer/Director Noah Baumbach tells us that the movie is about identity. We come to points in our lives where we’ve settled on an idea of ourselves. “This is who I am, as a parent, as a son, as a daughter, as a coworker, as a professional, as a friend.”

But I think, for all of us, there’s a gap between who we are deep down and who we present ourselves to be, and this varies in terms of all the different roles we play in our lives. And as we get older and gain more experience, and maybe wisdom, how do we redefine the person that we are?

Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on PBS SoCal's Must See Movies, moderates an in-person Q&A with filmmaker Noah Baumbach, George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Riley Keogh, Emily Mortimer, and Patrick Wilson.
