Celebrate CAAM's new exhibition, A New Song: Langston Hughes in the West, with a live performance of Hughes's poem, Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz. This vibrant fusion of spoken word, live jazz, and visual storytelling brings to life his commentary on the struggle for freedom and equality for Africans and African Americans in the 1960s. Presented by USC Professor of Music Dr. Ron McCurdy and his quartet, the performance weaves together gospel, blues, bebop, African rhythms, and more into a journey through history and culture.

Free RSVP is encouraged, but not required. Walk-ins welcome.
