Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus is a hilariously irreverent “true(ish)” dramedy that chronicles John Wesley Powell’s 1869 Grand Canyon expedition, presented with a gender‑fluid ensemble in place of the historically cis‑white male crew.

Through stylized movement, biting satire, and inventive casting, the play humorously critiques Manifest Destiny while celebrating the explorers’ grit, folly, and humanity.
