Forrest McKinnon: California's on the Right Track

As we celebrate KCET's 50th anniversary, we are visiting your community to ask you, what makes you love California and how we can envision a better future for all. The following was recorded at the Burbank Ice Rink, December 2014. For more and to participate in our next 50 years, join us at kcet.org/50.
"I am Forrest McKinnon and I am with Ice America at the rink in Downtown Burbank.
"I am originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania where it's very cold right now. It's nice here even though we are wearing jackets. What brought me to Los Angeles was the big dream of being a voice actor and so far it's going on a nice path for right now.
"It's such a wonderful town for me because I am very nostalgic so there's a lot of history behind LA that I love and I'm glad to be a part of it, now. It's wonderful. And I actually get to do this seasonal job right now doing the Ice America as a general manager here and it's a lot of fun.
"Helping them how to skate and really just be there and have a wonderful time with people I don't even know. To just help out for fun, I think that's a great job.
"We have one car. I have a skateboard and I take the bus when I have to take the bus and it's not too bad.
"I think California's on the right track right now. It's slowly going to happen, it's slowly happening and it's doing well, at least the year and a half I've been living here that I've noticed."
