PBS SoCal Plus (KCET) Joins the PBS App's Live Streaming Lineup
On August 3, 2026, PBS SoCal Plus joined the PBS platform livestreaming lineup including the PBS App, pbs.org and pbssocal.org./live. This is a free, local livestream of the PBS SoCal Plus broadcast channel and is available to residents in the greater Southern California area. Bringing viewers more ways to watch PBS content online at any time of the day regardless of antenna, cable or satellite connection

I. What is happening?
PBS SoCal Plus is joining other PBS SoCal live channel feeds and will now be able to stream live on the PBS App, pbs.org and pbssocal.org./live. The stream includes content from locally produced shows as well as acclaimed PBS favorites on the live linear stream.
II. When is this happening?
The livestream launched on Monday, August 3, 2026.
III. Where can I watch it?
Viewers can watch PBS SoCal Plus live on PBS Platforms, including the PBS App, pbs.org and pbssocal.org./live. To watch, open the PBS App on your preferred device, or open your preferred browser and visit pbssocal.org or pbs.org and select “Watch Live” and select the various live broadcast channel feeds available, including:
PBS SoCal – the primary channel featuring the full, national PBS schedule in addition to locally produced, original programming.
PBS SoCal Plus (NEW!) – expanded access to PBS programming with additional broadcasts of popular series, documentaries and specials.
PBS SoCal WORLD – The best of public television's nonfiction, news and documentary programming.
PBS SoCal Create – Access to lifestyle-oriented programming 24-hours a day with plenty of great cooking, crafts and travel content with shows like Rick Steves, America's Test Kitchen and This Old House.
NHK WORLD-JAPAN – The international service of Japan's public broadcaster NHK. It provides the latest information on Japan and Asia through television, radio and online to a global audience.
PBS SoCal KIDS – the 24/7 livestream dedicated to PBS KIDS programming.
IV. Does the viewer need to take any steps to make this change?
No action is needed. Viewers can visit the PBS App or pbssocal.org./live and select PBS SoCal Plus or any preferred PBS SoCal channel from the live channel lineup.
V. Is there a cost? Do I need to create an account and login to view?
No cost and no login is required for pbssocal.org./live. For the PBS App, download the app for free and create an account to watch. For extended access to the library of on-demand PBS content, become a PBS SoCal member and access to PBS Passport.
VI. Who can watch it?
Anyone with access to the PBS App, pbssocal.org can stream PBS SoCal Plus live. Viewers who currently watch over-the-air, on able or on satellite are not affected and can continue watching as they do today. This is another streaming option for making it easier to watch the programs viewers love.
VII. Why is this happening?
This launch gives viewers another way to PBS SoCal Plus programming live, in addition to over-the-air broadcast, making it easier for viewers to watch the programs they love.
