Burbank, Calif. – August 6, 2020 PBS SoCal, Southern California's home for new PBS program premieres, announced today that documentary series VOCES, produced by Latino Public Broadcasting, received two nominations from the 35th Annual Imagen Awards. “Raúl Juliá: The World’s a Stage,” a special co-presentation of VOCES and AMERICAN MASTERS, was nominated for Best National Informational Programming while “Porvenir, Texas,” received a nomination for Best Documentary. The acclaimed PBS documentary series exploring Latino arts, culture and history was presented by PBS SoCal and premiered in September 2019 in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. “Raúl Juliá: The World’s a Stage,” is a revealing look at the brilliant and charismatic actor, from his native Puerto Rico to the New York stage to Hollywood, whose mesmerizing performances took the world by storm. In “Porvenir, Texas,” an investigation is launched into the tragic 1918 murder of 15 Mexican men in the tiny Texas border town of Porvenir.

The Imagen Foundation continues to be the beacon in the recognition of Latinx talent like no other award show in Hollywood to date. The many years of continuous effort to spotlight and celebrate diversity in the entertainment industry has positioned the Foundation as a leader in distinguishing actors, studios, executives and many more for their exceptional performances and achievements in film and television.
