Eight Los Angeles Area Emmy® Wins for KCET and PBS SoCal Marks 7th Consecutive Year Leading All Other LA TV Stations, An Unprecedented Achievement in Awards' 75-Year History

Los Angeles, Calif. – July 24, 2023 – PBS SoCal and KCET, Southern California’s flagship PBS stations, announced today they received a combined total of eight wins from the 2023 Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards presented on Sat., July 22 by the Television Academy and its Los Angeles Area Peer Group. The total tally tied with KVEA for the most wins by any TV station at the 75th LA Emmys

marking the seventh consecutive year that the station has won the most awards at the Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards -- an unprecedented achievement in the awards 75-year history. Going into the ceremony, the two Southern California-based PBS stations KCET and PBS SoCal led all others in the region with 26 nominations spread across 11 different categories honoring 10 separate, locally produced productions.

Season two of the Emmy and James Beard Award®-winning series BROKEN BREAD (produced in partnership with modern media company Tastemade) won a total of three awards including “LA Local Color” and “Culture/History” for the season that explored the future of the restaurant industry, highlighting complex social justice issues through the lens of food and featuring notable interviews between Host and Executive Producer Chef Roy Choi with Chef Wolfgang Puck, Restauratrice & Food Activist Alice Waters, Artist & Activist Chuck D. and more.

The fourth season of food series THE MIGRANT KITCHEN in association with Life & Thyme, an award-winning culinary publication dedicated to documenting global food culture, was also recognized with two wins for “Music Composition” and “Short Promo.” The latest season went beyond Los Angeles to explore booming food scenes across the nation, introducing a new generation of chefs whose cuisine is inspired by the immigrant experience.

The locally produced original arts and culture series ARTBOUND and the regional history series LOST LA took home honors in the “Arts” and “Entertainment” categories respectively while the independently produced film BELLE VIE was recognized in the “Independent Programming” category.
