station serving Southern and Central California, will offer viewers a diverse,
new slate of programming this spring, including thought-provoking documentaries
and exciting, new episodes of KCET's highly-rated programs!
Men Who Made Us Fat - Beginning Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 8 p.m.
On Wednesdays, beginning April 2 at 8
p.m., KCET premieres the three-part documentary series, Men Who Made Us Fat. In this highly intriguing BBC series ,
journalist Jacques Peretti traces those responsible for revolutionizing our
eating habits. Around the world, obesity levels are rising. More people are now
overweight than undernourished; two thirds of British adults are overweight and
one in four of us is classified as obese. Peretti travels to America to
investigate the story of high-fructose corn syrup; explores the history of the
supersized fast food meal and other promotional tactics; and goes behind
marketing and how companies can seduce consumers into buying supposed 'healthy
foods'. Men Who Made Us Fat offers a
candid look on how healthy our society really is. The series will air each Wednesday night for
three weeks.
New Tricks - Beginning Monday, April 7, 2014 at 8 p.m.
One of the BBC's
highest rating drama series, New Tricks,
premieres first-run episodes on KCET beginning Monday, April 7 at 8 p.m. The
team of grumpy retired coppers, Superintendent Sandra Pullman and her Unsolved
Crime and Open Case Squad of Lane, Standing and Halford, are back on the job
again, working at the London Metropolitan Police as civilians investigating
unsolved crimes and cold cases. Facing the team this time around are cases that
include the suspected suicide of a witness to an air crash outside an American
military base; a pleasure cruise disaster on the Thames and the disappearance
of a young political activist and her boyfriend.

Poison
, debuts on KCET. The program that proves that what doesn't kill youcan make you stronger. Science has unlocked the human body, enabling us to
survive diseases and infections. Experts have discovered antidotes by using the
poisons themselves as a cure; the most poisonous toxin known to man - Botulinum
- is now used as an Anti-wrinkle drug called Botox. Scorpion venom is even
being tested for the treatment of life threatening diseases. From the history
of aspirin to antibiotics, public television presenter Michael Mosley is our
guide to this fascinating three-part series, airing Monday nights at 9 p.m.
through April 21.
