Los Angeles Press Club Honors PBS SoCal With Record Number of 62 Nominations for 67th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards, Spread Across 34 Different Categories

PBS SoCal Original series Artbound, Earth Focus and Lost LA honored with most nominations; plus, nominations for television journalist and photojournalist of the year.

Los Angeles, Calif. – May 14, 2025 – PBS SoCal, Southern California’s flagship PBS station, announced today a record number of 62 nominations for the 67th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards presented by the Los Angeles Press Club. The 62 nominations are the most that PBS SoCal has ever received from the LA Press Club and were spread across 34 different categories honoring a variety of locally produced series/productions from PBS SoCal. Three of PBS SoCal’s Original productions received the most number of nominations for the organization including arts and culture series ARTBOUND with ten, environmental series EARTH FOCUS with nine and regional history series LOST LA garnering seven nods. ART HAPPENS HERE WITH JOHN LITHGOW was nominated in five categories including education reporting, entertainment news/feature, host/anchor and for the award-winning actor’s own artwork in animation. PBS SoCal also has nominees in the prestigious Television Journalist of the Year and Photojournalist of the Year categories. Winners will be announced in all categories presented during a ceremony on Sunday, June 22 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Other PBS SoCal Original broadcast and digital series receiving multiple nominations included ROOTS OF COMEDY WITH JESUS TREJO, REBEL KITCHENS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, OUTSIDE THE LYRICS and STOP SAVING THE PLANET. Co-productions and acquisitions from PBS SoCal added significantly to the organization’s tally of nominations with programs that included UNDERSTANDING AUTISM, SNAPSHOTS OF CONFINEMENT, POSSIBLE SELVES, UNDER THE BATON and WOMEN OF FIRE in print, radio, podcast, TV and online categories.
