A Decade of Reporting on Homelessness in NYC
In New York City, homelessness has long been an issue. The latest numbers show more than 45,000 people living in shelters. This was Dasani Coates’s reality in 2012, when she was just 11 years old. Now she is the subject of a new book, "Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival and Hope in an American City," by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Andrea Elliott. It draws on almost a decade of reporting.
