The Legacy of Iranian Mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani
Maryam Mirzakhani was the first woman, as well as the first Iranian, to be awarded a Fields Medal, the highest honor in mathematics, in 2014. Mirzakhani, who died at 40 from breast cancer in 2017, is the focus of a new biopic, "Secrets of the Surface." Her lifelong friend, math professor Roya Beheshti, speaks with Christiane about Mirzakhani’s legacy and her beautiful mind.
