In Texas, a new redistricting plan backed by Republicans is causing a political standoff. Critics accuse the GOP of a partisan power grab as they look to gerrymander the voting map to secure more safe seats ahead of the next congressional election – so say the Democrats, many of whom have left the state in an attempt to stall the proposal.
