Prior to the pandemic, the city’s jazz legacy was in the spotlight at a global music showcase in New York, produced by Detroit’s own Joan Belgrave. The event was called “From Detroit to the World,” and it honored the music and teachings of Joan’s late husband, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave.
