A History of Division Over Nuclear Power at Diablo Canyon

Critics have been calling for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant's closure for decades. In the 1980s, the plant's gates witnessed one of the largest number of arrests in the history of the U.S. anti-nuclear movement. Despite these efforts, the plant ultimately opened. But concerns over safety emerge again as California considers keeping the plant open after announcing it's closure in 2016.
