The Groveland Four

Harry Moore

Harry T. Moore is not well-known in the pantheon of civil rights martyrs, but he was a true pioneer. Head of the Florida NAACP in the 1930s and 1940s, he was one of the first African-American activists to register significant numbers of black voters. But when he was assassinated on Christmas Day, 1951, many linked his murder to the notorious Groveland Four case.
