Zach Brown, Director of the InianIslands Institute, grew up in the small town of Gustavus, Alaska. After completing his Ph.D. at Stanford University and studying the effects of climate change on ecosystems in the Arctic and Antarctic, he decided to return to Alaska and start a field school dedicated to educating the next generation of environmental leaders.
