The Film Composer who Escaped Nazis to Score Hitchcock Movies
During World War II, many European composers escaping Nazi persecution emigrated to Los Angeles where they worked as composers for the movies. One of the most prolific composers from this era, Franz Waxman, scored such Hollywood classics as Sunset Boulevard and Rear Window. While visiting Paramount Studios, Nathan Masters got an up-close view of the original manuscripts for Waxman's iconic scores.
