Memories of the March

A Daughter Left at Home Marches On

Dr. Charmaine McKissick-Melton shares how her dad Floyd McKissick came to speak at the March on Washington, and her regret over not attending. She hopes to honor her father’s civil rights legacy and embody his spirit in so doing. Remembering her very first humiliating encounter with racism as a child, it becomes clear she has indeed inherited her father’s fighting spirit.
