"Central Park Karen" Video Sparks New Hate Crime Legislation
"He is recording me and threatening me and my dog," Amy Cooper is heard saying. The video shows a confrontation between a white woman, walking her dog off a leash in Central Park and a black man bird watching in Central Park. Police responded and no arrests were made. The viral video has lawmakers taking on a bill that would criminalize falsely reporting an incident as a hate crime.
