Fishing Industry Takes Hit From Hurricane
Commercial fishers in New Jersey netted 175 million pounds of fish last year, valued at $1.3 billion. This year profits are expected to take a tumble. In Belford, fishing boats weathered the storm away from Sandy’s path but their facilities have been completely destroyed. Losing the fish market has caused them to operate on last year's profits and leaves workers with an uncertain future.
