Restoring Oysters to Protect Us From Future Storms
NYC used to have the largest oyster population in the world, but it was decimated by overharvesting and pollution. Now, the oyster is being promoted as a defense against future storms. Reporter Rick Karr visits the Bronx River where volunteers check up on their recently-planted oyster beds. And Kate Orff, founder of SCAPE, one winner of HUD’s Rebuild by Design challenge, joins anchor Jack Ford.
