Pocket Sketching with Kath Macaulay
Changing an Existing Sketch With a Copier
Season 1
Episode 9
By scanning a poor sketch and copying it onto good paper, Kath demonstrates making changes on the copied image to “get it right”, then changes the original. Changing the original sometimes makes it a total failure. This allows discovery of ‘what works’, before making critical changes. She uses watercolor paintings of John Singer Sargent to emphasize how well this works.
