Reporter Roundup: COVID-19’s Impact on Surgeries

Season 1 Episode 139

On the May 11 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters breakdown the pandemic’s impact on surgeries, immunization rates, local elections and what’s happening to address an outbreak at a local prison.

KPCC’s Libby Denkmann is watching for how the coronavirus may impact the election in the 25th district tomorrow.

Some Los Angeles area hospitals have resumed scheduling medically necessary surgeries but do so during a pandemic is complex, reports Elly Yu.

According to Los Angeles County’s Department of Public Health, the childhood immunization rate here was down more than 50 percent in April compared to last year, according to KPCC’s Marina Dale.
