Eleanor is recruited to speak for a women’s organization in the Democratic Party. Dreading the idea, she was nonetheless encouraged by Louis Howe and her husband to resume her independent life and keep the Roosevelt name before the public. She does well and is befriended by two influential women in politics, Nancy Cook and Marion Dickerman.
