Inside the California Republicans Convention | Feb. 22

On the Feb. 22 episode of SoCal Update, California Republicans met this weekend for their Spring Organizing Convention. KPCC Senior Politics Reporter Libby Denkmann shares highlights.

Much of the weekend was spent debating and adopting new party rules and holding elections for local and statewide leaders, including Jessica Millan Patterson’s re-election as chairwoman of the party. Patterson, a Latina who became the first woman to lead the state’s party when she was elected last year, prioritized efforts to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom in her acceptance speech, an issue that surfaced throughout the weekend.
