On the March 5 episode of SoCal Update, L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva proposed a joint task force to investigate corrupt politicians and government officials alongside L.A. District Attorney George Gascón. KPCC Public Safety Correspondent Frank Stoltze explains why Gascón declined the offer.

A few days after Gascón declined, Villanueva endorsed a campaign to recall Gascón, saying he’s not tough enough on crime. The task force proposal comes while the L.A. County Sheriff investigates his department’s watchdogs for corruption.
