Quentin Aanenson: A Fighter Pilot's Burden
On one of his earliest missions, Quentin Aanenson of Luverne, Minnesota, caught German soldiers on an open road with nowhere to take cover. He did what he had been trained to do. Back at his base in Normandy, he got sick. The next day, he flew out and did it again. His account lays bare the personal cost of combat.
