The Desert National Wildlife Refuge has seven life zones, including an area known as the outback, with fossils, a yucca forest, and transition from desert to the mountains with pine trees. Day two of the trip, features the Refuge's interpretive trails, an ancient grinding stone and a special aquarium exhibit.
