SELAH’s volunteer-powered, dignity-first response to homelessness in Los Angeles addresses the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors and activates an empowered coalition of participants, volunteers and partners.

Food Access Los Angeles

Food Access LA, originally known as Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that aims to build sustainable food systems, ensuring everyone has equitable access to fresh, affordable, locally grown foods.

Every Day Action
(Various locations) (Volunteer – Food distribution, drivers)

Every Day Action recycles waste and re-distributes it to those in need. Their mission is to inspire others to take care of their local community and to ask themselves daily: What can I do to help someone today? How can I be the reason someone feels seen, heard, valued, loved and supported? Working in conjunction with film sets, restaurants, grocery stores, and others, we take food, belongings, etch that one might perceive as waste and get it into the hands of the underprivileged and/or homeless communities.

LA Family Housing (North Hollywood)

LA Family Housing helps people transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.

MEND Poverty

MEND's mission is to meet the immediate needs of individuals and families and strengthen their capacity to thrive. For more than half a century, MEND has served as a lifeline for the most vulnerable families, individuals, and seniors, offering services rooted in dignity and respect.

North Valley Caring Services
(North Hills) (Volunteer – Community Outreach, Food Prep and Distribution)

North Valley Caring Services (NVCS) is a nonprofit organization serving the residents in the Northeast San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. What began as a soup kitchen in 1978, has grown to become the largest single-site food distribution center in the San Fernando Valley, offering FREE programs and services to over 300,000 people a year experiencing food, housing, employment and economic insecurity. We are here in our community -- for our community. 

NoHo Home Alliance
(North Hollywood) (Volunteer-Community Outreach, Food Prep and Distribution)

NoHo Home’s Drop-In Access Center provides essential services like meals, clothes, and showers as a means to build relationships with our unhoused neighbors. Through these relationships, we can best understand how to support their goals and provide a full range of stabilizing services: a no-barrier mail service, identification document support, device charging, access to internet, housing referrals and navigation within the HMIS system, and wrap-around case management. We nurture community with the understanding that change becomes possible in the context of safe, reliable relationships that affirm human dignity.  

Christy’s Foundation

Christy’s Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting hunger, supporting families, and strengthening communities throughout Los Angeles and beyond. Our mission is to provide consistent access to free, healthy groceries, essential household items, and nutritional education to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

 SFV Community Mental Health Center
(Van Nuys) (Volunteer –Mentorship)

The San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is moving lives forward with compassionate, trauma-informed behavioral health services that empower individuals, strengthen families and transform communities across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles County.

Hollywood Food Coalition

The mission of Hollywood Food Coalition is to nourish the community by rescuing and distributing food, preparing nightly meals, and uniting efforts to achieve food equity.

My Friend’s Place
(Hollywood) (Volunteer – Community Engagement)

Since 1988, My Friend’s Place has been welcoming, affirming and standing in partnership with young people impacted by homelessness in Hollywood and across LA. Their cofounders started by distributing brown bag meals out of the trunks of their cars. Today, their professional staff serves over 1,150 young people annually — providing what young people need to move toward wellness, stability, and a permanent exit from homelessness — all on their own terms.
