Double Yolk celebrates the unexpected, featuring rich exploration of works written and arranged for the flute and clarinet that highlight nature and conversation. The program brings together modern experimentation and baroque conversation, featuring West Coast premieres by living composers Dai Fujikura, Lei Liang, and Michael Hersch. Works by Baroque composers Barbara Strozzi, G.P. Telemann, and H.I.F. Biber highlight the rich tradition of Baroque variation and canonic play, set alongside the call and response of John Cage’s Litany for the Whale.
