Open Your Eyes: Lula Washington Dance Theatre

For Lula and Erwin Washington, the Lula Washington Dance Theatre is more than just a building or studio. It's a beacon of black ownership, a means in which to share a powerful message about race and society, and a necessary part of their community. The University of California, Los Angeles was where they started their revolution, and their partnership has kept their business and message strong over decades of work. Through years of collaboration, the duo has displayed dance not only as their art, but their activism.
