Rubén Ortiz-Torres Remixes 'América Tropical'
Ruben Ortiz-Torres' 'White Washed America' recreates David Alfaro Sisqueiros' "América Tropical," a 1932 mural that depicts a crucified Indigenous man. Sisqueiros' controversial work was whitewashed shortly after completion, only recently being uncovered and restored. In this video, Ortiz-Torres discusses his ghostly version in 'White Washed America,' rendered in chromaluscent pearl paint.
