L.A. River's Legacy of Displacement
"For centuries, the L.A. river has shaped life for residents, while also displacing many. From time immemorial, the river was the center of life for Native peoples until waves of colonization erased Native culture from every part of waterway. In the mid 20th century, infrastructure projects removed about a quarter million residents, many of who were people of color living in segregated communities
