An Indigenous woman tells her story: residential school
Canadians are demanding answers after unmarked graves of Indigenous children were found at a former residential boarding school. Similar schools existed across Canada and the U.S. aimed at “assimilating” Native peoples. Muriel Betsina told her story of survival and healing after a harrowing childhood spent in a residential school, recorded in partnership with the Global Reporting Centre.
