Can garment factories pay a living wage and still compete?

At $3 an hour, the workers at the Alta Gracia garment factory in the Dominican Republic are earning enough to feed a family of five. But after three years, this new, living wage-based business model has yet to turn a profit as global competition has pushed thousands of jobs to lower-cost countries.
