Ukraine’s Crimean Tatar Muslims have persevered through centuries of persecution, including a alleged Soviet-sponsored genocide in 1944. With Russia’s 2014 annexation of the Crimea, the Tatars are now facing renewed persecution in the form of government crackdowns and forced exile.
