Nutrient pollution creates fertile ground for algae blooms

In Toledo, Ohio, Mayor Michael Collins ended a three-day ban on public water due to high toxin levels, likely caused by a massive algae bloom on Lake Erie. This year’s algae build-up came earlier than usual and officials warn it won’t be the last.
