Why Trump declared national emergency over COVID-19 pandemic

Friday was another day of mass closings and cancelations as schools, sports and travel shut down amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. President Trump also declared a national emergency to increase funding for a federal response, and he appears to have a deal with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for related legislation.
