In other news Monday, five NATO soldiers were killed in Afghanistan, four in a roadside bombing in the east and one in an explosion in the south. Alliance officials gave no detail of the soldiers' nationalities. In Pakistan, the Taliban claimed responsibility for an attack on a military base that killed 10 people.
