In New York City, an influx of vehicles using rideshare apps like Uber has caused the value of the city's taxi medallions to plummet, along with drivers' wages. This month, New York became the first U.S. city to regulate rideshare apps, with a year-long cap on new licenses, amid a conversation about the role city regulation should play in that industry.
