Renters, Shooting | September 1

Season 1 Episode 222

On the September 1 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters follow an extension to the state’s eviction ban, exemptions approved for AB5 and the shooting of a man by deputies.

State lawmakers have extended pandemic protections for renters until Jan. 31, 2021. Aaron Mendelson talks about what’s included in this eviction moratorium.

The state assembly has approved a bill to exempt freelance writers, musicians and photographers from the AB5 law for gig workers. David Wagner discusses what this means.

Sheriff's deputies shot and killed a man in the South L.A. Westmont neighborhood Monday. Frank Stoltze reports on the death and the questions it raises.
