Reporter Roundup: Suicides Among Black Population

Season 1 Episode 172

On the June 24th edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss school police, suicide rates and working high schoolers.

Historically, suicide rates for African-Americans have been lower than for other groups. Recently that’s changed. KPCC’s Robert Garrova talked to experts about what they’re seeing.

Some high school students spent much of their time during the pandemic working outside jobs, adding to an already stressful situation. Reporter Kyle Stokes has the details.

As protests continue over police violence, there has been a re-examination of the school police and their role on campuses. KPCC’s Carla Javier breaks down what was decided at yesterday’s Los Angeles Unified School District board meeting.
