The International Banana Museum
In a small desert town near the shores of the Salton Sea lives a man obsessed with bananas. Fred Garbutt is the creator of the International Banana Museum in Mecca, California. Inside a squat building he has amassed more than 20,000 banana themed items including salt and pepper shakers, toys, cookie jars, ash trays, dolls, pipes, glasses, jewelry, soap, candles, games, even a banana shaped record player. The collection is complemented by Fred’s quirky and fun personality as profiled in this story produced by Cool Hunting.
