California's Gold with Huell Howser
Trout
Season 8
Episode 8012
Huell follows the rainbow trout's journey from growth at San Joaquin Fish Hatchery to Fresno Airport, where they catch a flight to the California lakes to be dropped, or "planted" in hundreds of California lakes. First planted by horseback, the Department of Fish and Game began using airplanes to complete the task in 1947, putting the skills of former WWII bomber pilots to new use.
